TOPIC: BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS
TEXT: JOSHUA 1:1-18

KEY VERSE:
Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the low my servant Moses gave to you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left that you may be successful wherever you go – Joshua 1:7

After the death of Moses, God commanded Joshua together with the Israelites to get ready to cross the River Jordan into the land He was about to give them. Notice the specific commands that God gave to Joshua (verses 2, 6-8). What promises accompany these commands?

This is a call for courage. True success in life can not occur without knowing and doing the will of God. It’s important to find a balance between God’s guidance and human wisdom. Joshua was given special guidance, but he also needed to familiarize himself with as much scripture as was available at that time. This principle applies

to us as leaders today as well. We should never feel or give the impression that we are above the law. Only then will God bless us.

The allegiance of the two-and-a-half tribes illustrates the principle that the true leader must always be ahead of those he leads. Are you a leader? How far have you gone ahead of the people you are leading? Do you have fresh ideas for them? Are you still dwelling on past glory? Let’s ponder over this.
