2025 CGIT Emphasis Week: Celebrating the Christian Girl God Uses

On October 21, 2025, the Christian Girls in Training (CGIT) marked a good achievement with its 2025 Emphasis Day Celebration, an event that displayed true grace, empowerment, and a strong sense of love and passion for the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.

Rev. Uchenna Chigozie, PhD, the National Desk Coordinator of CGIT, delivered a heartfelt and inspirational goodwill message to the daughters and mothers who attended the opening ceremony and reminded them of their divine purpose.

This year’s celebration centred on the theme “The Christian Girl God Uses”, which reflects the theme of the church in 2 Timothy 2:21, that every girl is created for a purpose by God. In her message, Rev. Chigozie outlines the five indispensable qualities that every Christian girl should cultivate to be divinely utilised.

First, she underscored the paramount importance of being readily available to God, as illustrated in Isaiah 6:8. She implored the young women to position themselves for God’s work. Second, she stressed the necessity of willingness as a tool to serve, actively participating in God’s mission both within the church and in the broader community. The third quality, adjusting to God’s plan, encouraged the girls to align their personal dreams with God’s greater purpose for their lives.

Going forward, she spoke of being submissive to God, harmering on submitting talents, time, and resources to God’s will. Rev. Chigozie replanted in the hearts of the girls the necessity of constant growth. She encouraged everyone to continually develop themselves, even their spiritual gifts.

Rev. Chigozie’s message not only challenged the girls to reflect on their own journeys but also helped them to embrace their role in the kingdom of God. She affirmed that when girls make themselves available to God and submit to His plan, they will experience growth, fulfilment, and purpose.

The opening ceremony did well by empowering the girl child, as was reflected in the provision of bursary awards and skill acquisition programmes aimed at helping Jesus girls to achieve their God-given potential and succeed in various spheres of life.

The event also acknowledged the generous partners and supporters who are committed to empowering young girls, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to excel. Rev. Chigozie expressed her profound gratitude to the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, particularly His Eminence Ekpeyong Akpanika, PhD, Most Rev. Prof. Miracle Ajah, and Rt Rev. Victor Aniefiok for their ongoing support and dedication to the cause.

As the event concluded, Rev. Chigozie congratulated the girls and mothers for their resilience and unwavering trust in the mission of CGIT. She encouraged them to continue living out their faith with boldness and to always strive to grow in God’s grace. With deep gratitude, she closed her address with a prayer for God’s honour to rest on all present and for a joyful celebration.
