TOPIC: KEEP SOWING
BIBLE PASSAGE: ECCLESIASTES 11:4-6
Key Verse: “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well” – Ecclesiastes 11:6.
Our passage instructs us not to observe the wind nor regard the clouds before sowing since man is limited in knowledge to discern the way of the Spirit. King Solomon advises that we sow our seeds in the morning and evening, not slowing down, with the assurance that we will reap from the seed sown in the morning or evening and even get double blessings from both.
God created the world, and it operates according to His laws. Many people experience lack and deprivation in life, not because He is unaware of their situation, but because He is waiting for them to take action to trigger their expected breakthrough. This is a great example of the partnership between the divine and human, which illustrates the saying that you ‘reap what you sow.’ For example, God has promised those who give up earthly ties and worldly things for His sake a hundredfold blessing in this life and in eternity: there needs to be the human act of sowing before the divine provision of abundant reaping.
Today, our sowing is done with resources such as money, time, talent, skills, and services. We sow to the service of God, education of children, relatives, friends, and self. We must fulfill the law and not be slow in sowing into these areas as they would ensure future comfort while we await the coming of our King.
However, believers must be careful to not fall victim to false teachers who weaponize the concept of sowing to fleece people of the little resources they have. Let us not imitate the Christians who steal from their employers and ‘sow’ the money in the church in the name of tithes and offerings. That is plain wrong and sinful. We can only sow in God’s way.
ACTION:
Sow while it is day and do it the right way.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, make my life fruitful so I can sow into Your kingdom and the lives around me.
