TOPIC: KEEP TRYING, DON’T GIVE UP!
BIBLE PASSAGE: 2 SAMUEL 6:12-17

Key Verse: “They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord” – 2 Samuel 6:17.

David initially left the Ark of the Lord in the house of Obed-Edom after Uzzah died for touching it against God’s command. After three months, David heard that God had blessed Obed-Edom because of the presence of the Ark in his house. David then decided to bring the Ark back to Jerusalem, ensuring that everything was done correctly this time. David learned from his past mistake and allowed the priests to carry the Ark on their shoulders as prescribed. However, he didn’t stop there. He turned the event into a true worship experience, offering sacrifices of oxen and fatlings along the way and personally leading the team in worship (v. 14). He couldn’t contain his joy for the successful completion of the task.

David did not allow his initial setback to stop him from trying again; neither was he disturbed that his wife did not appreciate all he did. He made good use of his past mistakes and eventually succeeded in achieving the goal of taking the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem. He was not ashamed of publicly honouring God as he completed an important assignment that had been truncated previously by presumptuous ACTION.

Many of us do not learn from our past mistakes. Thus, we abandon our dreams or project because of past blunders. Do not allow initial setbacks to debar you from pursuing your goals in life. God wants you to be a winner.

ACTION:
Don’t quit, keep trying.

PRAYER:
Ask the Lord for grace to complete every assignment before you.
